Can Collated Drywall Screw Strips be Reused? Manufacturer’s Testing Result
We are a professional manufacturer of collated screw assembly machines. Oe common question we hear is:

❓ Q: Can the plastic collated drywall screw strips be reused after use?
✅ A: Based on our internal testing, the answer is no.
Collated screw strips are made of polyethylene (PE) material and are designed for single-use only. After being used in a screw gun, the strip typically becomes deformed, stretched, or broken. Attempting to reuse them may cause:
- Jamming inside the screw gun
- Screws misfiring or not feeding properly
- Reduced work efficiency
- Potential damage to the tool
For optimal performance and tool safety, we strongly recommend using new, high-quality strips for each operation.

To help you better understand, here are three reference photos from our internal testing:

These images clearly show that after use, the strip loses its shape and cannot be reloaded properly.
